PRESS RELEASE NOVEMBER 2011
Kyocera Corporation was founded on the philosophical basis that commercial success and the material and spiritual fulfilment of its employees are inextricably linked to acting as a responsible corporate citizen within society. This includes preserving the environment and striving for social improvement within the communities in which the corporation operates. The company's history since its formation in 1959 has demonstrated that business success goes hand-in-hand with the implementation of environmental and social initiatives.
As well as the continuous development of technology solutions to the environmental challenges encountered by today's business, Kyocera and its subsidiaries all endeavour to operate in a way that supports the aims of the Kyocera philosophy. Environmental impact reduction and social contributions are therefore not restricted to the activities described in Kyocera's CSR reports, they are intrinsic to everyday business operations
“Kyocera has been banging the ecological drum since Sting was knee-high to a South American grasshopper” said IT journalist Tim Danton back in 2002. In fact, they launched their first ECOSYS printer back in 1992 – the year of the first Earth Summit in Rio - and have been refining and improving the environmental performance of their products ever since.
In addition, Kyocera are committed to reducing the environmental impact of both their own business operations and those of their supply chain and channel partner community. They aim to continuously improve their environmental performance and adopt a leadership role in their industry towards promoting more environmentally responsible and resource efficient business.
The Green Partner Programme
The Green Partner Programme is an important element of Kyocera Mita’s commitment to greening its entire supply chain, both upstream and downstream. To achieve Green Partner status, channel partners have to demonstrate that they have policies in place covering sustainable office working, sourcing and recycling. They also need to show that they inform customers about WEEE recycling and Kyocera’s toner returns service, as well as wider issues around the responsible use of office equipment. There are two levels of accreditation, Green Partner and Green Partner Plus. The scheme is intended to give customers confidence that when they choose a sustainable printing or copying solution based on Kyocera’s unique long-life, cartridge-free technology, they can also acquire it through a channel partner that operates to recognised environmental standards.
Annodata has become only the fourth organisation to be awarded Green Partner Plus Accreditation.
The award recognises the hard work Annodata has undertaken as part of it 's contribution to a greener and more sustainable planet.
